Matthew Perry sold $35 million in real estate

Beloved “Friends” star, Matthew Perry, left a lasting mark both on and off the screen. In his final years, the actor underwent significant changes in his life.

Sources revealed that Perry was grappling with a profound sense of loneliness in his last years, despite his generous heart and his desire to help others. He spent most of his days at home, feeling very much alone.

In the summer of 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Perry purchased a cozy countryside home of 900 square meters in Los Angeles for $6 million. This marked a notable departure from his previous residence in Malibu, an extensive seaside property of 1,600 square meters that he listed for sale at the same time he acquired the countryside home. The mansion in Malibu had been sold for $13.1 million three years prior.

Perry also owned a luxurious 9,300-square-foot penthouse in Los Angeles, which he acquired in 2017 for $20 million. Initially, he listed it for an impressive $35 million, but he sold it for $21.6 million in 2021. In 2023, the penthouse found a new owner for $21 million, and that owner happened to be none other than Rihanna.

Perry’s final residence, located in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood, was a charming mid-century ranch-style home that had undergone recent renovations. Comprising four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms, the house featured floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island.

Inside, the house had oak flooring throughout, a spacious living and dining area, and a fully equipped kitchen with an impressive floor-to-ceiling wine cellar. Two of the bedrooms were master suites with sliding doors leading to pergolas. Outside, the 0.37-acre property included an elevated pool with ocean views and a fire pit.

A few days before his death, Matthew Perry shared a final and intriguing image on Instagram. In the photo, he was seated in a hot tub with headphones on and captioned the post: “Ah, so swirling hot water makes you feel good? I’m Mattman.” He also shared a video of the moon, alluding to Batman, and wrote, “Do you understand what I’m trying to say? – I’m Mattman.” Just a few days later, he was found dead in the hot tub.
