Leica has unveiled its first limited edition watch that pays tribute to its first golden-edition camera.

Leica has released a new limited edition watch called ZM 1 Gold Limited Edition, honoring the brand’s historical past and unparalleled craftsmanship. Limited to only 50 pieces, the special creation is based on Leica’s original ZM 1 watch (formerly L1).

What sets it apart from the standard version is its special coloring that pays homage to the brand’s first golden camera – the Leica I Model A Luxus, launched in 1929. Inspired by the vintage camera, the limited edition watch features a double case made of 18k 4N gold and high-strength grade 5 titanium, a material known for its use in the aerospace and automotive industries.

The dial of the ZM 1 Gold features a brown gradient treatment made possible by a specialized brushing technique, giving it a beautiful appearance. The indices and hands reflect the golden color of the case with galvanized finishing. Inside the 41mm case is the hand-assembled Leica Caliber LH-1001 movement featuring the company’s patented pressure crown – a feature that mimics the function of a camera shutter release.

Completing the look of the limited edition is a brown strap made of crocodile leather. The leather comes from a certified farm in the USA and is naturally tanned in an Italian tannery. The Leica ZM 1 Gold Limited Edition will be available exclusively through private appointments at selected Leica stores and will be priced at $28,000.
