Named the Senna Cockpit, this high-tech chair was created by Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer Executive Jets in collaboration with Senna Brands and Metalcrafters Transparency and Composites, Inc. The limited edition chair took two years to develop and captures Senna’s passion for the pursuit of excellence.
The Senna Cockpit was designed and developed by the Interior Design Team of Embraer Executive Jets while being manufactured by MTCcorp. Its design and construction incorporate the perfect blend of aerospace technology, automotive interior design, and carefully crafted ergonomics.
To make it as lightweight as possible without compromising the integrity of the design, the limited edition office chair is crafted from CNC-machined aluminum 061-T6 and graphene-reinforced carbon fiber.
One highlight of the design is how the chair rotates 360 degrees or moves from front to back or side to side. It almost appears to float on its base, defying gravity. The mechanism is based on that used in the seats of the Embraer Phenom 300E Executive Jet.
The chair’s design mimics the cockpit of a modern F1 racing car. While the seat is wrapped in 100% full-grain leather, the aluminum parts are anodized in black or champagne gold, giving the Senna Cockpit a very sporty yet premium look. Additionally, the golden stitching is inspired by the paint of Senna’s winning car in the 1986 Grand Prix.
Finally, a champagne gold anodized bar on the back of the seat is engraved with “DRIVE YOUR TRUTH,” while each chair is individually numbered. Only 22 units of the Senna Cockpit will be sold, in reference to June 22, 1986, the day of Senna’s first Grand Prix victory. If you want one, be prepared to shell out $36,000. A portion of each sale will be donated to the Ayrton Senna Foundation, supporting educational programs in Brazil.
