The $50,000 Tiffany & Co. watch adds an extravagant and vintage touch to traditional timepieces. Inspired by a New York City taxi from the 1950s, the Tiffany Taxi perfectly illustrates that time is constant and transient, much like the New York taxi that makes nearly 800 trips per month, according to Purewow.

The distinctive appearance of the watch comes from the popular Tailfin Fender of the Golden Age, adorned with a yellow taxi license plate above the windshield. Its aluminum body is wrapped in the instantly recognizable Tiffany Blue. The logo of the American luxury jeweler shines on the plate, adding a touch of elegance.

So far, the majority needs a reminder that this is not just a fantastic luxury collectible but a watch. The Tiffany Taxi features two independent movements, each with its own power source: one on the driver’s seat to count the hours and another to start the engine. The hours can be read on the driver’s seat, where hours and minutes are displayed on rotating stainless steel discs situated in the air filters. The time is set through the three-spoke steering wheel.

What makes this piece even more intriguing is the second movement, allowing the owner to start the engine. Turning the key activates the pistons of the V-8 engine, simulating movement. A manual gearshift lever is included for various functions, such as winding the time movement, energizing the engine, or putting it in neutral.

All these remarkable features are encapsulated in a body measuring 5.5 inches in height, 7.4 inches in width, and 18.6 inches in length, with a weight of 11.7 pounds. The Tiffany Taxi has arrived, pun intended, just in time for the festive season and is available for $50,000. An even more exclusive version is presented at 727 Fifth Avenue in New York, featuring a golden and blue plate with “NY-727” to honor the address, priced at $52,000.
