Completely original, this 1950 Split Window Beetle has just over 14,000 km on the odometer. This extremely rare specimen is from the year the Beetle arrived in Brazil and had been stored in a garage for nearly sixty years.

The 1950 Split Window Beetle was found in a house in the Cambuci neighborhood of São Paulo.

How they found this Beetle

The house of the former owner of the Beetle, an elderly man, caught fire last June, and unfortunately, he passed away in the incident. However, the rare car was found among other vehicles in the property.

After the incident, the vehicle was reportedly sold by someone connected to the previous owner.

The history of the Beetle

Imported from Germany, the deceased owner’s father purchased the black car in July 1951, as certified by the ownership document.

It was in that year that the car began to be assembled in Brazil, importing the parts – its local production by Volkswagen started in 1959, in São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo.

Finally, there are rumors that, after the incident, the car changed owners twice. In the most recent negotiation, its price reportedly exceeded the R$ 1 million mark, making it the highest-priced Beetle in the Brazilian market.
