Lamborghini created a special Diablo Roadster for Donald Trump. The rare supercar of the former president with special Blu Le Mans paint is now up for auction, and the reserve price is known.
The Lamborghini Diablo could never match the popularity of its predecessor, the legendary Countach; however, the flagship V12-powered supercar is an Italian masterpiece. If you want to add one to your personal collection, this particular example is definitely something you’ll want to check out!
+ The largest and most luxurious suite on the ship measures 400 m2 and features a private spa.
This Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster from 1997 will be auctioned at the Barrett-Jackson event in Scottsdale. Before we list all the special qualities of this impressive ’90s supercar, there’s some information you should know. This particular Diablo was custom-built for the former President of the United States, Donald Trump.
The listing states that the supercar is unique since “Trump was authorized to order this Diablo due to a special relationship with Lamborghini, which provided him with some ‘borrowed’ Diablos for… promotional purposes.” In 2016, the same Lamborghini was listed on eBay for the price of $460,000.
The V12 monster features a special Blu Le Mans paint, which was officially not available in 1997. Additionally, the custom Diablo also sports a “Donald Trump 1997 Diablo” plate on the driver’s door, further highlighting the special relationship Trump shared with Lamborghini.
Inside, the Diablo comes with a tasteful two-tone interior combining black with off-white. Other highlights within the cabin include a digital climate controller, an analog clock, an Alpine audio system, and an H-gate shifter. Trump owned the car until the summer of 2002. Since then, it has been owned by two more individuals and has 24,836 km on the odometer. Strangely, the Lambo had covered 23,586 km in 2016 when it was available on eBay. However, the listing notes there is a “mileage inconsistency.”
Under the hood is a centrally mounted 5.7-liter V12 engine capable of producing 492 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual that sends power to all four wheels. The Italian supercar had a 0-60 mph time of 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 325 km/h.
The Diablo comes with literature, tool kits, and a cover, and appears to be in excellent condition. It is a rare machine as one of only 132 units destined for the United States between 1997 and 1999. There is no pre-auction estimate for the Lambo, but it is being auctioned with no reserve price. Do you think it could fetch a million dollars? Perhaps the Trump connection might help.
