This beautiful sculpture – Brora Iris – houses a 50-year-old whisky from one of Scotland’s oldest ghost distilleries and will be available for auction with a starting bid of up to $650,000.
Known as Brora Iris, this is a remarkable artwork from the Brora Distillery. The bottle features an impressive interpretation of the distillery’s emblem, the eye of a Scottish wildcat. It is expected to be auctioned off for a value that could reach up to $650,000 in collaboration with Sotheby’s.

In addition to its impressive appearance and wordplay, Brora Iris also represents the oldest single malt ever bottled by Brora. This 50-year-old whisky is housed in a 1.5-liter decanter, suspended within a monolithic stone sculpture.
Scottish sculptor and artist Michelle De Bruin used the same limestone that was employed in the construction of the Brora Distillery to create this masterpiece. This five-decade creation was generously donated to the charity auction “The Distillers One of One” by Diageo, one of the world’s leading Scottish whisky distilleries. In addition to the prize itself, the winning bidder will have the opportunity to visit the restored distillery along with five guests.
Jonny Fowle, Head of Whisky at Sotheby’s, shared, “It is with great pleasure that we present Brora Iris. Few distilleries in the world evoke as much majesty and admiration as Brora, and the uniqueness of this artwork and this exceptional whisky make it one of the auction’s top lots. I had the privilege of tasting it, and I can say that this is truly a remarkable Brora.”
Javier Ferrán, Chairman of Diageo, stated, “We are very pleased to support The Distillers Charity by donating Brora Iris for the upcoming Distillers One of One auction. We hope that the industry’s contribution will benefit young people and communities supported by this charity throughout Scotland.”
The second Distillers One of One charity auction is scheduled to take place at Hopetoun House, near Edinburgh, on October 5, 2023.
